Background:
An antiques mound, with caves once used for dwelling, remains of a possible church or synagogue. There are two hills. On the top of the eastern hill the outline of a rectangular structure - possible the shrine of Sheikh 'Atir - and what may be a graveyard.
The place was probably inhabited by the Jahalin Bedouins.
There's extensive forrestation all around also with the aim of pushing out Bedouins that were brought to the area after the establishment of Israel.
