On June 30, 2005, Zochrot conducted an educational tour of al-Lydd. The tour came on the heels of the Fourth Activism Festival held in that city.
Edward Tanus, the son of a Lydd family, showed us where the hospital once stood and where the headquarters of the resistance forces were located. He pointed to the places where hundreds of bodies were burried in mass graves.
We also posted a sign over the entrance to the Lydd Ghetto. A thousand poeple were allowed to remain there under military rule, after over 40,000 Palestinians where deported from the town and the surrounding villages.
