Ever since the beginning of the Nakba in 1948, Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons have been struggling to preserve the memory of their towns and villages in many ways; these include collecting and archiving aural histories, documents and photos, and writing their pre-Nakba histories in articles, booklets and books. A related cultural practice is drawing the village based on the memories of older refugees and drawing mental maps that complement the professional maps produced by experts.
On this page, you will be able to find a collection of drawings and maps of various towns and villages painted and drawn by Palestinian refugees. We at Zochrot thank the contributors who have added too this collection over the years.
