A Study Tour on the Nakba in the Destroyed Palestinian Village of 'Innaba

The Nakba continues and is even intensifying. The practices that the State of Israel employed in 1948, and that Zionist organizations had used even before its establishment, against the Palestinian people, are still being applied today against Palestinians in all areas where they live, especially in the Gaza Strip. The horrific practices occurring there today, including mass killings, the destruction of cities and villages, and the displacement of civilian populations from their homes, echo the Nakba of 1948, with the same goals in mind. We recognize and reveal the continuity of the Nakba so that we know our history, understand how we reached the current situation, and choose a different path for the future. Tours in erased Palestinian sites within the borders of the established State of Israel are one of the ways to expose, learn, and change.

Join us for a tour of the area of the destroyed Palestinian village of 'Innaba, near what is now Modiin. The village was captured in July 1948 by the Israeli army, which expelled all its residents, destroyed all their homes, and prevented their return. You can learn more about the village in the booklet "Remembering 'Innaba" (2017) and watch Ayelet Bechar's film "Take 3" which was produced and screened as part of Zochrot's Nakba and Return Film Festival (2015).

During the tour, we will learn about the village's history, its capture, and the fate of its residents. We will walk among the ruins of the houses, stop by the cemetery, explore parts of the village site, overlook the surrounding area, and try to imagine a different reality. We will use maps and documents to connect 'Innaba to the broader context of the Nakba.
