On the anniversary of the Massacre and the occupation of Lod in July 1948, Zochrot invites you to join us for a tour of al-Lydd to delve into the Nakba and its ongoing implications, focusing on accountability and redress.

Saturday | July 13, 2024 | from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

During this tour, we will explore the city and its rich history. We will visit significant sites, delving into the brutal occupation of 1948, including the looting of homes and properties, the massacre, and the expulsion. We will discuss the ongoing repercussions, such as the prevention of expelled Palestinians from returning and the confinement of survivors in a ghetto. The tour will also shed light on processes of Judaization, including the resettlement of Jewish immigrants in Palestinian homes and the erasure of the city's Arab-Palestinian identity.

The tour will start at Khan al-Hilu, we will walk through the center of the old town, the Ghetto compound, the great mosque, saint George church and the Dahmash mosque, where Israeli forces massacred dozens of the city’s residents in 1948.

Meeting point and start of the tour at Khan al-Hilu, (in WAZE: Khan El-Hilu), at 18:00
