You are invited to a tour in which we will visit, for the first time, two Palestinian villages in the center of the country, which existed until their occupation and depopulation in 1948: al-Mirr (al-Mahmudiyya), on which the Yarkon Sources (Mekorot HaYarkon) National Park was established, and al-Muwaylih, north of Highway 5, between HaYarkon and Kesem interchanges. We will tour the remains of the destroyed villages, and study their histories and their erasure by the State of Israel.
Meeting point: At the entrance to the park, near the Baptist Village, at 11:00.
In the first part of the tour, we will visit al-Mirr, within the park, from 11:00-12:30. Entrance to the park requires payment of NIS 28 per person. Some of the participants’ contribution to the tour will be used for entering. Users with a subscription to the park or discounted tickets are welcome to use them.
In the second part of the tour, after a 15-minute drive, we will arrive at the center of al-Muwaylih and visit the houses still standing. The transportation will drive us between the two villages. Completing the tour of al-Muwaylih will depend on weather and ground conditions.
The route is of low difficulty; we will cover only several hundred meters by foot.
Make sure you carry enough water. Wear suitable shoes and take an umbrella if necessary.
Your guides will be Rose ‘Amer, Maya Yavin, and Nati Hanadari, graduates of “Change Agents for Spatial and Historical Justice in the Israeli-Palestinian Context, Guiding Tours on Nakba” Course – a collaboration between Zochrot and the School for Peace – Wahat al-Salam-Neve Shalom. The guides have created the tour based on their research of the sites, as part of their course studies.
The guidance will be in Hebrew and Arabic and English interpretation will be provided as required.
Transportation will leave from 1 HaThiya St., in front of Bloomfield (al-Bassa) Stadium, Gate 12, in Jaffa, at 10:15.
