The Jewish National Fund and the Nakba, the case of “Canada Park”.
Green Olive Tours is proud to announce a special online event in collaboration with Zochrot (“remembering” in Hebrew), the renowned Israeli NGO working since 2002 to promote acknowledgement and accountability for the ongoing injustices of the Nakba, the Palestinian catastrophe of 1948.
Generations of Jews around the world know the Jewish National Fund and its famous blue boxes, where money was collected penny by penny to “plant a tree in Israel”, but few know where that money actually goes.
Part of Zochrot’s “Ten Days of Return” series, this special session is co-hosted by Zochrot’s Umar Al-Ghubari and our own Yahav Zohar. We’ll take a close look at the JNF and its central and often hidden role in the dispossession of Palestinians and cover up of the Nakba.
For a closer look we’ll take you to Canada Park, just off the main road between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Here, we’ll search between planted forests and picnic tables, cycling trails and informative signs about ancient history, for the ruins of the Palestinian town hidden beneath them.
