At the exhibition "Towards a Common Archive"
Sunday, December 9, 2012, 8pm.
At Zochrot's Visual Research Laboratory: 34 Yitshak Sadeh St. Tel Aviv. 4th floor, room 400
After the screening conversation will take place between Anat Even and Eyal Sivan.
The film made in 2006 shortly before the writer's death, Director Anat Even follows the voice of Israeli S. Yizhar with the camera's gaze, both accompanying the author's words and opposing them.
Even is kindly disposed to Yizhar's account of childhood anecdotes, which serve as meditations on Israel's founding father generation of which the director's own father was part. Intercutting S. Yizahar's reading are images of the Israeli landscape and roadways, which symbolize the successes as well as the blind alleys of the Zionist dream.
The 40 minute film has received, among other prizes, an award at the International Film Festival in Nyon.
