Lecture: ‘QUEERING ZIONISM’ / An Israeli Anti-Hegemonic Transformative Process
From: 12/06/2013 17:00 - To: 12/06/2013 19:00

Tal Dor, PhD candidate at Education at Paris, activist at Zochrot and Tarabut, will present in this discussion (in Hebrew) her initial research which aimed at understanding the learning process that Israeli Anti-Zionists undergo during their transformative journey to anti-hegemonic awareness. Through conversational narrative interviews, this research presents the accounts of changing awareness and consciousness transformation of seven Israeli actors, four women and three men, who have gone through a critical educational process, bringing them to openly criticize, and in some cases actively act against, the Zionist common sense in which they grew up. The research is based on critical and feminist educational theories of change, feminist approaches to consciousness and queer theories of personal and collective transformation.
In this lecture, Tal Dor will present the main results of the research, that have emphasized dialogue and constant questioning pedagogy as a central praxis of all seven actors and their processes, and the five stages of critical thinking, that the research suggests that Zionist Israelis go through in the process if “becoming” Anti-Zionists.
