The looted vase

Letter we received in Zochrot which we wanted to share:

"I've been trying, so far in vain, to find a Palestinian home or venue for the vase pictured below. The vase is an etched WW1 artillery shell, that my father, and Israeli soldier, helped himself to during the 46/47 war. He found it in an abandoned village outside Jerusalem. I very much want to return it to a Palestinian; both as a conciliatory gesture, but mostly because it is a lovely piece... There ought to be venues where we can say "I'm sorry for what my people did to your people; even if I wasn't there at the time and am not directly responsible" (in the image: the looted vase)
