Nakba Day 2009, Miske
29/04/2009

About 200 people commemorated the Nakba on Israel's 61st Independence Day at the destroyed village of Miska. Jews, together with Palestinians, most of them refugees from the village and members of their family, listened to Safiya Shabita and Musa Shabita tell about their lives in the village before the nakba, about their expulsion and their lives as refugees. A new pamphlet about Miska, in Hebrew and Arabic, was distributed, and a sign was erected identifying the location of the village.

On the same day, thousands of people participated in a procession of return, which this year went to the destroyed village of al Kafrin, in Ramot Menashe.
